Ruby was born on December 5, 1919 and passed away peacefully on February 2, 2011 at the age of 91 surrounded by those she loved. Her parents were John and Emma Neemann. She was the youngest of 10 children and grew up under the watchful eye of her mother and sisters. She married August "Gus" Pieper on March 9, 1938. They lived in the Burr, Unadilla area until their retirement when they moved to Cook.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband on February 15, 1983 and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Roger and Karen Pieper of Nebraska City, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Larry Swanson of Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Kent Windhorst of Miami. Six Grandchildren: Tom and Shauna Pieper of Holt, Mo., Angie and Tony Ways of Overland Park, Ks., Geoff and Rosemary Chriswisser of Austin, Tx., Steve Pieper of Olathe, Ks., Mathew Swanson of San Clemente, Ca., Kimberly and Mike Soltis of Miami, Fl. Fourteen Grandchildren, three sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was very proud of the fact that she was able to live in her own home and maintain a full garden of which she was very generous with friends and family. She was also very well known for her quilting. Her quilts are in many homes of family and friends. Countless people were touched by her kindness and generosity, Ruby will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Funeral Services will be Monday, February 7, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Cook, Nebraska. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Cook, Nebraska. Family suggests memorials to Grace Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be Sunday February 6, 2011 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. all at the funeral home.
