Ruth Joan Wegener

Ruth Wegener, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Olga Schroeder, daughter Lisa Wegener, brothers Robert Schroeder, Paul Schroeder, sisters Beverly Schroeder, Dorothy Nessen, Bonnie Baker, and Eileen Miller. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, William, daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Richard Goble of Grand Island; Darci and Steven Schulz of Omaha; grandchildren Brandon and Kirsten Goble of Breckenridge, CO, Brent Goble of Las Vegas, NV, Emili and Benjamin Schulz, of Omaha; great grandchildren Mason and Sawyer Goble. She is also survived by brother Ron (Evelyn) Schroeder, California and sister Pat Lesan, Oregon; Sister-In-Law, Florence Moren, Omaha, Brother-In-Law, Morris Miller, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth was born in Cedar Creek, Nebraska and attended Cedar Creek Elementary School and Louisville High School. After graduation she worked at Zion National Park and then Mutual of Omaha. She married William (Bill) Wegener of Louisville and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Louisville for 67 years including 58 years after her marriage to Bill. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir. They worked together on the Wegener family farm before retirement in 2009, when they moved to Omaha. She was a member of the Cass County Country Extension Club and was a devoted parent member of Triple B and Bee Gees 4-H Club.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18th from 1:00 until 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. all at Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home, 413 Elm Street, Louisville, NE.
The funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church on 222 Walnut Street, Louisville, NE., on Thursday, February 19th at 10:30 A.M., with burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Louisville or donors choice.
