Obituary

Samuel "Sam" Jerome Focken was born on June 15, 1952 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Lawrence and Pearl (Vlasek) Focken. He passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the age of 59 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Sam was united in marriage on September 26, 1981 to Vicki Meyer in Coryelle Park located in Brock, Nebraska. Together they raised two children, Nick and Bailey. He owned and operated Panama Auto which he purchased in 1980, he also farmed near Douglas and was a skilled Fabricator.

Sam could be described as a quiet man with a great love for his family and friends. He was a member of the Outlaw Hot Rod Tractor Pulling Association and enjoyed the time he spent with his family at tractor pulls. Spending time with his children gave him great joy, whether it was working the pit crew for Nick's racing or attending swap meets he was happy to have time with them. He enjoyed tractor pulling, fixing stuff, building cars, attending ZZ Top concerts and was a avid "Snoopy" Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Focken of Douglas, NE; children, Nick & Bailey Focken of Douglas, NE; mother, Pearl Focken of Douglas, NE: siblings: Judi Schmidt of Sterling, NE; John (Maxine) Focken of Cook, NE: Rob (Julie) Focken of Palmyra, NE: Joyce (Barry) Blackwell of Chesterfield, MO; June (Carol) Focken of Glenwood, IA; Rosalie (Andrew) Beliel of Wichita, KS; Russell Focken of Lincoln, NE; Father-in-law: Arnold Meyer of Cathedral City, CA; Sisters-in-law: Bev (Jim) Reinmuth of Cathedral City, CA; Jacki (Pat) Meyer of Palmyra, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Foken, mother-in-law, Dorise Meyer, nephew Tim Schmidt and brothers-in-law, Darrell Schmidt and Jeff Herbanek.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Palmyra, NE with Rev. Mark Ekstrom officiating.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 12, 2012 with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Palmyra, NE.

Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Douglas, Nebraska.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
