Obituary
Scott E. Bassinger was born on August 25, 1953 in Nebraska City, NE to Miner and Helen Bassinger. He passed way on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his home in Unadilla, NE at the age of 54 years.
Scott grew up in the Talmage and Cook areas and attended Nemaha Valley Schools where he graduated in 1971. He later was married on July 14, 1974 to Cindy Phillips. After marriage they moved to Unadilla, NE where they raised their four children, several dogs, hamsters, rabbits and Copper the Cat. Scott worked faithfully for Gartner Construction Company for 35 years.
Scott loved working on vehicles. his favorite times were when the kids were little and he had his head under the hood of a vehicle at midnight and the kids were there too. He loved to go fishing, but didn't like to clean or eat them. Scott loved to take family vacations with his kids and take them camping on holidays and weekends. Later in life he loved spending time with his grandchildren and being in the pool with his granddaughters and he always wanted his grandsons to have a running go-cart. His day would not have been complete without the morning and afternoon coffee, gossip, and weather forecast at the TR Mart in Unadilla. Scott also loved to dance with his wife, nothing was better than a good polka.
He is survived by Wife: Cindy Bassinger of Unadilla, NE: Daughter: Angela Oestman and husband John of McKinney, TX; Sons: Terry Bassinger and wife Angela of Dunbar, NE; Adam Bassinger and wife Jennifer of Syracuse, NE: Daughter-in-law: Elizabeth Bassinger of Arizona. 10 Grandchildren: Zachery, Allie, Ethan, James, Lilah, Scott, Lorelei, Miriam, Tucker and Dylan. 7 Sisters, 4 Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son, Miner Bassinger, Sister, Dawn (Bassinger) Kerry (who died 4/30/2008)
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 4:15 P.M. at the Unadilla School Gymnasium at 700 G Street in Unadilla, NE with Rev. Richard Dimond officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 4th from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Monday, May 5th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Unadilla Cemetery, Unadilla, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
