Sharon Knutson Hudson passed away on March 30 in Syracuse, Nebraska, at the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on October 5, 1932, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Hiram Everette Knutson and Edith Lily Anderson Knutson Ford (Clarence).
She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1950. Sharon married Robert (“Bob”) Hudson in 1952. In 1963, they moved to Otoe, Nebraska, where Sharon and her family were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Sharon stayed busy raising her children: Robert (“Bobby”) Hudson, Jennie Hupman, and Lana Obermeyer. She was a longtime member of several clubs in Otoe, including the Extension Club, Pinochle Club, and Saddle Club. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Syracuse Red Hat Club.
The family moved to Syracuse, Nebraska, in 1967, where they lived until 1981. Sharon later joined Bob in driving semis over the road, and they lived in Harleton, Texas. After Bob’s passing in 1994, Sharon returned to Syracuse in 2000. She became a member of Luther Memorial Church and formed a special friendship with Don Carey. They both moved to the nursing home in 2019, where he later passed away.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Lana (Butch) Obermeyer of Syracuse, and her grandchildren: Kelsey (Noah) Wiedel, Jessica Thompson, both of Omaha; Makayla (Owen) Field of Gainesville, Florida; Erik (Kristen) Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas; Azarais Smith of Omaha; and Rachel (Joe) Baldin of Buckner, Missouri. She also had four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Bob; her daughter, Jennie Hupman; her brothers, Everette (“Jerry”) Knutson, David Ford, and Joel Knutson; her sister, Barbara (“Joan”) Hermansen; her brother- and sister-in-law, Joe and Nancy Hudson; and her partner, Don Carey.
There will be no service at this time. The family requests prayers for peace and guidance from our Lord Jesus Christ for our family and our world.
