Shirley O. Dalby, 94 of Syracuse, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She was born on May 3, 1931, to Bryan & Lola (Myers) Owens in Arcadia, NE. Shirley graduated from Arcadia High School in the class of 1949 and married her high school sweetheart Raymond Dalby on December 17, 1950, in Arcadia.

Throughout her life, Shirley worked a variety of jobs including more than 20 years at Goodyear as well as helping Raymond when they owned Larry's Liquor in North Platte and Coast to Coast Hardware in Columbus and lastly worked at Wilke Landscape.

Shirley enjoyed the simple joys of life—cooking and baking, attending Husker football games, and spending time with her family. She especially loved family gatherings, traveling with Raymond, playing pinochle, and watching her grandchildren's many activities. Shirley enjoyed her dachshunds and was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son Randy Dalby; daughter Joni (Tom) Hruby; grandchildren Kristy (Brian) McGarry, Kelly (Mark) Detrio, Kasey Dalby, Karly Dalby, Melissa (Luke) Boldt, Mike (Darci) Weyers, Jes (Bobby) Martin; great grandchildren Jack & Charlie McGarry, Dylan & Peyton Detrio, Kennedy Diaz, Haylee, Sam & Katy Boldt, Harper & Lucy Weyers, Ray, Molly & Will Martin; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, brother Bob Owens and sister Leah Dalby.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Burial will be at a later date in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
