Shirley A. Obermeyer, 86 of Syracuse, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the Syracuse Hospital. She was born on October 22, 1939, in Nebraska City to Lawrence G. & Helen A. (Griepenstroh) Ramold.

On September 22, 1959, she married LeRoy “Butch” Obermeyer, Sr in Sidney, IA. Shirley operated an in-home daycare as well as being a full-time mom. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church and active in the Women’s Fellowship.

Shirley enjoyed scrapbooking, country music and traveling with Butch. She especially cherished watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and loved staying connected with family and friends by phone. A devoted sports fan, she could often be found cheering on the Nebraska volleyball and football teams, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. In later years, she enjoyed watching RFD-TV and getting strawberry ice cream at Dairy Chef with her daughter before taking drives around town.

She is survived by her children, LeRoy “Butch” Jr. (Lana) Obermeyer, Christine Mounce (Jeff Hahn), Lonnie (Susan) Obermeyer, and Lisa (Greg) Berner; daughter-in-law Joan Obermeyer; grandchildren, Chelsea & Tawni Mounce, Blake (Rachel) Berner, Kali (Kyle) Frauendorfer, Bailey Cochran, Taylor (Brad) Driever, Jessica Obermeyer, Ryan Shannon, Rachel (Kurt) Powles, Nick & Jake Eisenhauer; great grandchildren Caden & Owen Berner, Loelle, Reese & Kollyns Frauendorfer, Karsen, Jaxson, Brinley, Easton, Harley & Gavin Driever, Mickenna Shannon, Quinn (Ansley) Shannon, Chancetin Shannon, Ripley Campbell, Penelope Long, Nova & Sawyer Eisenhauer, Skylar DeSanti, Wade & Zoey Powles; sister-in-law Nancy Ramold; also survived by numerous nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Larry, brother Larry Ramold, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom & Doris Berry and father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry & Kate Obermeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Luther Memorial Church, NE YouTube page. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Church.
