Shirley Jean Towle was born February 13, 1928, in Wabash, Nebraska, to Frederich and Minnie (Oikmann) Lawrence. She died on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Louisville Care Center, at the age of 86 years, and 8 days.
Shirley graduated from Murdock High School, and went on to study nursing in Lincoln, and while working at Lincoln General Hospital she attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also work for Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, before going into Private Duty Nursing. Shirley received her Teaching Certificate and taught Elementary School in Omaha, Nebraska for two years. She loved working in her yard, gardening and feeding the birds. Couple of her favorite pass times were attending Musicals at the Orpheum Theater, and taking her Mother to the Nebraska State Fair.
Shirley is survived by her brother Gayle (Rose) Towle, Charlotte (Ron) Calhoun, nieces & nephews; Lee Towle, Pat Bargen, Cheri Tajchman, Carmen Censky, Cathy Gollwitzer, Bill Craig, Doug Craig, and Tom Craig.
Shirley is preceded in death by parents Frederich and Minnie Lawrence, and sister Mary Ellen Craig,
Funeral Services will be Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Chapel, 413 Elm, Louisville, Nebraska, with burial at Wabash Cemetery. Family suggest memorial to the Wabash Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday February 24, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Service at 1:30 P.M., all at the Funeral Home.
