Stephen A. "Bill" Davis, was born February 26, 1918, in Syracuse, Nebraska, to Stephen and Theresa Bengtson. He passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center, in Syracuse, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years 3 months, and 13 days.

Bill married LaVerna Hauschild, at her Parents Home in Syracuse, Nebraska, on July 30, 1940, and to this union they raised 3 children - Stephen, Mary, and Joyce. He farmed, but in his spare time, he enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and politics. Bill was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. He was a past member of Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Otoe County 4-H Council, and Syracuse School Board. Bill was a 1936 Graduate of Syracuse High School, a 4-H Leader of 6-years, member of Syracuse Lions Club, Church Boards, County Commissioner of Otoe County, Chairman of the North Syracuse Precinct Republican Committee, Otoe County SLAP Safety Program, and was a Pioneer Seed Dealer for 50 years.

Bill is survived by his wife LaVerna Davis, of Syracuse, NE, son Stephen Davis & wife Colleen, of Plymouth MA, daughters Mary Fruhling & husband Ron, of Lincoln, NE, and Joyce Bunger, of Omaha, NE, grandchildren Allison Davis Williams, of Williamsburg, VA, Wade Fruhling, of Lincoln, NE, Kristin Fruhling Nelson, of Lincoln, NE, Brooke Bunger Studt, of Omaha, NE, Scott Bunger, of Chicago, IL, 6 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Annette Davis, of Dannebrog, NE.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter Anne Davis Sahrmann.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Friday, June 12, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 1162 Mohawk, Syracuse, Nebraska, with Memorials suggested to the Syracuse Public Library, Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Visitation with NO Viewing due to Cremation, will be Thursday from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with the Family Receiving & Greeting Relatives & Friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel.
