Susan Elizabeth Renner, 93, of Louisville, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, at her daughter's home in Gretna, Nebraska. Susan was born on December 7, 1930, in Weeping Water, Nebraska, to Charles W. and Mary Frances (Davis) Everett.
Susan grew up in Weeping Water and graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Clarence "Bud" King in Nebraska City on December 15, 1948. Together, they had four children: Robert, Suzanne, Bill, and Diane. After Bud's death, she found love again and married Floyd "Jake" Renner on June 29, 1974 , and gained a son, Ron and daughter-in-law, Judi.
An avid gardener, Susan took great pleasure in canning her harvest each year. She had a profound love for butterflies and birds, enjoyed playing games—especially Scrabble—and was a passionate supporter of Husker athletics and sports in general. Her patriotic spirit was evident in her dedication to serving her community, including many years serving on the election board.
Susan was a member of several organizations including the Navy Mothers, Eight and Forty, American Legion Auxiliary, Arborvitae #5 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Louisville Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Karen) King of Valley, NE; daughter, Diane (Tom) Akeson of Gretna, NE; step-son, Ron (Judi) Renner of Louisville, NE; sister, June (Wimp) Hermann of Weeping Water, NE; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Everett and Frances Everett-Baker; her husbands, Bud King and Jake Renner; her daughter, Suzanne Leggett; her son, Bill King; her brothers, Art Everett, John Everett, and Bill Everett; and her sisters, Dee Everett, Margaret Faughn, Mary Maneely, Shirlee Sudduth, and Barb Parson.
A Memorial Service Celebrating Susan's Life will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Louisville Methodist Church with Rev. Dean McPherson officiating. Visitation will be one hour (10-11AM) before services at the church.
Burial will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
