Thomas "Tom" W. Meyer, 89, of Manley, passed away at his home on March 1, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1934, to Paul & Mary (Sheehan) Meyer near Avoca. Tom grew up as a farm boy and learned a strong work ethic at a young age. By the time he was in high school, he was working two jobs. As soon as he could, he joined the Navy and served his country honorably for four years.

When Tom returned from the Navy, he lived in Manley and worked at Ash Grove in Louisville for 39 years until his retirement. On May 1, 1965, he married Kathleen Texel in Omaha, and they were blessed with three children: Annette, Michael & Tammy. Tom's favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, playing cards with his family, and gardening. After retirement, he would go to the casino or play bingo to catch up with family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife Kathy Meyer; children Annette (Mike) Eggert, Michael (Gina) Meyer, Tammy (Tim) Anderson; grandchildren Cole Eggert, Tommy Eggert, Jae (Paul) Meyer, Noah Meyer, Lauren Anderson, Sean Anderson; siblings Bob Meyer, Mary Lou Zoz, Ruth (Duane) Gansemer, Terry (Betty) Meyer; brother-in-law Frank Novotny; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Meyer, and his grandson, Tyler Eggert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Manley, with Father Jason Doher officiating. The burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

The rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The family will greet friends following the conclusion of the rosary.

Memorials are suggested to the Manley Fire Department.
