Tony was born July 22, 1936, in Crete, Nebraska, to Anton and Gladys (Koop) Aksamit. He passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, in Syracuse, Nebraska, at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 17 days.
Tony married LaVern Linhart, on June 16, 1954, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 3 children Robin, Todd, and Tony. He was a Semi-Truck Instructor for 18 years, for Southeast Community College, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tony was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Trucking Assn., Professional Truck Drivers Assn. of America, he was a former Baseball Coach, member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, avid Cornhusker Football Fan, and was a member of the Eagle Coyote Club.
Tony is survived by his wife LaVern Aksamit, of Syracuse, NE, daughter Robin Mignogna & husband Gene, of Pensauken, NJ, sons Todd Aksamit & wife Paula, of Syracuse, NE, and Tony James Aksamit & wife Lisa, of Salina, KS, 8 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren, aunt Mae Aksamit, of Lincoln, NE, niece Christy Allen, of Lakewood, CC, also survived by many other cousins.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, 1-brother, and 1-sister, and grandson Riley James.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE ~ MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Fusselman Wymore Funeral Chapel, 644 Park Street, Syracuse, Nebraska.
Burial of Cremains will be held at a later date.
