Veona Wanda (Vollertsen) Kruse, 95 of Syracuse, was born June 15, 1923 on a farm south of Dunbar, NE to Elmer and Marie (Schroeder) Vollertsen. She passed away on July 7, 2018 in Syracuse.

Veona married Ernest H. Kruse on October 6, 1943 at Leesville, Louisiana while he was serving in the Army during WWII. Following the war they returned to farming at Syracuse and had two children Linda & Dale.

Veona was a Member of St. John's UCC – Syracuse, American Legion Post #100 Auxiliary, Mid-County VFW #5547 Auxiliary, Laff-a lot club, community volunteer and several card groups.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Ernest and daughter-in-law Darline (Wilken) Kruse. She is survived by her children Linda (Jim) Dockery of Eagle, Dale (Nancy) Kruse of Beatrice; grandchildren Jason (Alexia) Bolt of West Palm Beach, FL, Dacia Kruse of Lincoln, Rachel (Willis) Scofield of Lincoln, and Tai Kruse of San Antonio, TX; great grandchildren Ashlyn & Ella Drews of Lincoln, Addison & Wyatt Scofield of Lincoln, Harrison, Warner & Scarlett Bolt of West Palm Beach, FL; step grandchildren Deanna (Jason) Rinehart of Ft. Collins, CO, Kim (Casey) Russman of Gothenburg, NE; step great grandchildren Will & Wes Rinehart of Ft. Collins, CO, Jace & Hayden Russman of Gothenburg, NE.

Funeral Service: Friday, July 13, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday, July 12 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey F.H. in Syracuse, NE.
