Verla Marie Schliefert was born June 4, 1924, in Louisville, Nebraska, to Henry and Dora Marie, [Stohlmann] Gaebel. She passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Bergan Mercy Hospital at the age of 84 years 4 months, and 17 days.

Verla married Herman Schliefert on August 10, 1947, on Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Louisville, Nebraska and to this union they raised their children Linda, and Larry. She worked as the Church Custodian for 39 years. Verla was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for more 50 years. She had taught Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid and Dutch Academy Club

Verla is survived by her son Larry & wife Trish Schliefert, of Murdock, NE, and son-in-law Wilbur Meisinger, of Weeping Water, NE, grandchildren Greg and Josh Schliefert, Brenda Meisinger, & fiancé Gabriel Ahlers, and Brad & wife Jessica Meisinger, and great grandchildren Tabor, Dreziks, Keegan, and Tatum. Brother Bill and wife Shirley Gaebel, of Murdock, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Verla is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman, daughter Linda Meisinger, sister Lenora Ragoss, and brother Charles.

Visitation: Thursday 3 until 9 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. all at the funeral home. The casket will be open one before service at the church.
