Verle Margrete Schroder, 85 of Palmyra, passed away on November 4, 2017 in Lincoln. She was born on March 14, 1932 to Hillverd & Minnie (Leefers) Nutzman in Avoca.
Verle married Joy Schroder on October 25, 1954 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and worked on the farm with Joy. Verle was a charter member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, and a 50+ year member of the Palmyra Legion Aux. She also belonged to WELCA, Better Halves Extension Club, Dorcas Society, Palmyra Action League and Palmyra Rough Riders.
She is survived by her husband: Joy Schroder; daughters: Ruth (Jim) Kahler, Donna (Bruce) Ekstrum, Lana Jean (Dan) Lionberger; grandchildren: Carissa Lindsey, Dana (Brandon) Massin, Joshua Ekstrum, Carlie Jo & Tim Antes, Connor Marcoe, Lauren Lionberger, Hannah Lionberger; great grandchildren: Reily Ekstrum, Archie D. Antes; sister: Margem (Sam) Naffziger; sisters-in-law: Gaylene Nutzman, Alma Schroder, Verda (Bill) Umland; sister: Karen Price; also many nieces and nephews.
Verle was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother: Susan Nutzman, brother: John Nutzman and an infant sister.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 10:30 A.M. at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse. Memorials are suggested to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or Palmyra Legion Aux. #195.
