Obituary

Vernon V. Warnke was born November 28, 1926 at Cook, Nebraska to William R. & Mary (Stiehl) Warnke. He passed away on February 2, 2013 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 5 days.

When Vernon was younger he learned to play the guitar, banjo and harmonica and always dreamed of playing at the Grand Old Opera. He loved country music the best. On January 13, 1946 he married Mary Lou Millet in Holton, KS. They lived in Nebraska City where he worked as a carpenter.

Vernon and Mary Lou had four children Myron, Barbara, Kathy and Roxann. Myron passed away when he was one month of walking pneumonia. In the spring on 1949 they moved to a farm by Burr and started farming. They lived in Burr until March 1954 when they bought a farm 3 miles north of Unadilla. Here they started a Dairy farm and had it for 12 years. In 1981 they decided to retire from farming completely. In 1984 Vernon started to work at the First National Bank in Syracuse as the head of maintenance.

Vernon was also involved in 4-H as a leader for 10 years, serving on the School Board at Unadilla for 2 years, Unadilla Elevator for 6 years, the Little Nemaha Watershed Board, the Extension Board 6 years, the Church Board 3 terms and the NRD Board. He loved to build tractors by hand, woodworking and collecting toy farming equipment.

He is survived by: Daughters, Bobbe Keller (Doug) of Gretna, NE, Kathy Ozenbaugh of Lincoln, NE, Roxann Countryman (Jim) of Canton, OH, Grandchildren, Scott Keller, Kevin Keller, Kari Lancaster, Allison Grant, Matthew Ozenbaugh, Travis Ozenbaugh, Michael Kreifels and Kristi Badberg, Step Grandchildren, Mike Countryman, 15 Great Grandchildren

Preceded in Death By his wife Mary Lou, son Myron Lynn Warnke, parents William & Mary, a brother & sister.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 5, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ. Graveside services will then be held at 1:30 P.M. at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

The family suggests memorials to the Family's Choice.

Visitation will be held on Monday February 4, 2013 from noon until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
