Veronica Kay “Roni” Garrison (Nickels), born on September 8, 1960, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep love for her family, rock ‘n’ roll, and life. Born to Judy and Glen Nickels, Roni grew up alongside her younger brother, Frankie. She was raised with the guidance and love of her mother and her stepfather, Dathan "Rabbit" Stokes, who was a devoted father figure until his passing in 2013.

In high school, Roni met Robert "Bob" Dhaenens at the drive-in movies. They married in 1984 and had three children: Joey, Billy, and Presley. Though their marriage later ended, Roni and Bob remained good friends and devoted co-parents. Roni dedicated her life to being a loving mother, working in local venues, and shared a lifelong passion for rock music.

Her love of music led her to meet her second husband, Mark Garrison, a keyboardist for the band "Tight Fit." They married in 1995 and relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Roni welcomed her stepson, Shaun Garrison, into her heart. Roni and Mark later parted ways. Her love of adventure and her free spirit took her out to Denver to be closer to her Mother. While living in Denver she obtained her pharmacy tech degree and worked for a few years at a couple different companies. Many years later, she wanted to get to know, spend quality time with and be close to her biological father Glen. At this time she then ventured to Las Vegas. After five years in Nevada she decided to move back to Omaha to once again be closer to her children and grandchildren.

During the prime of her life she was a loving mother and grandmother. Recently she earned her 10 year anniversary at Wal-Mart. In her free time she loved going to live shows, watching the Denver Broncos, listening to Elvis, watching true crime documentaries and spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible. She gave her heart and soul to her family and they meant the world to her. She never went a day without telling you that she loved you.

Roni will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of music, and the many memories she created with those fortunate enough to know and love her.

She is survived by her Children/Step-Children: Joseph Robert Dhaenens (Kelsi), William Albert "Billy" Dhaenens (Nikki), Shaun Garrison (Fawn), and Presley LaVonne Dhaenens; Grandchildren: Amaiya, Kymmia, Desmond, Orlando, Kamdyn, Cooper, Dominic, Aryana, Robert, and Elijah; Siblings: Frankie Nickels (Verlynn), Jamie McMahon (Kane), Mary Wilson, Genevieve Annette Garcia; Aunts: JoAnne Bradshaw, Janice Roloff, Uncle: Jeff Habel. She is also survived by many loving extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother Judy Habel, father Dathan “Rabbit” Stokes, biological father Glen Nickels, Aunt Jeanine Cooley, Uncle Lorenze Roloff, and granddaughter Brooklyn Alrie Dhaenens.
