Obituary

Vicki J. Tipken, 64 of Eagle, passed away at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln on August 26, 2024. She was born on December 16, 1959, to John & Lois (Erskine) Lukes in Lincoln. She married John Tipken on September 19, 1981, at the First United Methodist Church in Waverly. Together they built a loving family and cherished their time together.

Vicki was known for her caring nature and support of others, whether through cooking and baking for her family or church events or her attentive care for a wide variety of animals. She also had an adventurous spirit which showed up in her love of boating, classic cars and motorcycles or in her joy of thunderstorms. Vicki could also be described as mischievous and enjoyed pulling pranks on others. She was hard working and a fighter, having endured many different medical maladies over 40+ years to become "God's Picasso" or a "walking miracle". Most important to her was her strong faith and job as a devoted wife and caring mother.

Vicki was a wordsmith. This was displayed in many forms, from finding creative ways to help her children remember things, creating fun poems for birthdays, creative writings to locate hidden presents, deciphering what her young children were trying to say or ask about, helping them proofread papers, to her career. She was a "pronunciation extraordinaire" and her funny sayings added humor and memories to her children's lives (de-pot!)! Her fun quirks will be fondly remembered by her loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, John Tipken; children Christina (Tom) Tipken and Andrew (Mary) Tipken; grandchildren Evelyn and Liam Tipken; brother Gordon (Carol Cole) Lukes and his daughters Kathrine (Danny) Morales and Alexis Lukes; uncle Bill (Loree) Southerland; child Sarah Southerland; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lois Lukes; her parents-in-law, Ralph and June Tipken; and her grandparents Horatio "Sonny" and Enola Erskine.
