Violet (Vi) Hattie Emma Riege was born June 23, 1916 to Henry and Sophie (Kirchheck) Seelhoff, in Syracuse, Nebraska. She passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, Syracuse, Nebraska at the age 91 years, 9 months, and 7 days.


Violet married Harry Riege, on December 20, 1934, at First Lutheran Church (North Branch), Rural Avoca, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 2 sons, George, and Orville. She lived in Nebraska City and moved back to Syracuse 1995. Vi was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Nieghbors & Friendly Card Group, Volunteered at the Manor in Nebraska City, Member of the St. Mary's Hospital Aux, Member of the Westview Manor Board of Directors, She enjoyed card playing and Crocheting.


Violet is survived by her Son George Riege and wife Clarice of Lincoln, NE; Daughter-in-law: Delrosa Riege of Nebraska City, NE; 8 Grandchildren: Mark Riege, Janet Palmtag, Julie Conway, Jeri Johns, Mike Riege, Gregory Riege, Gary Riege, Carmen Kress 28 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

Violet is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Harry Riege (8/19/1980) Son, Orville F. Riege, Granddaughter, Joan M. (Riege) Nelson, Great Granddaughter, Katie Marie Johns, Great Great Grandson, Gaige Nelson, 4 Sisters, 3 Brothers.

Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Thursday (4/3/08) at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Syracuse. Officiating: Rev. Paul Coen. Graveside Service: Thursday (4/3/08) at 1:30 p.m. at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City. Visitation: Tuesday (4/1/08) from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.; Wednesday (4/2/08) from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.; and one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Family Suggests Memorials To: Luther Memorial Building Fund.
