Wayne L. Miller, 81, of Cedar Creek, NE, passed away on August 3, 2024, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on April 16, 1943, in Cedar Creek, Wayne was the beloved son of George H. and Emma S. (Warren) Miller
Wayne married his sweetheart, Judith Marie (Judy) Funkhouser, on April 3, 1964, at the Presbyterian Church in Murray, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with two children: Amy and Douglas.
Wayne spent his career as an arborist and tree trimmer with Asplundh, providing services for OPPD. He was an active member of the Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the Louisville Rod & Gun Club. Known for his passion for trap shooting, Wayne won numerous awards in the sport. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. Wayne loved tending to his large garden, often canning and sharing his produce with friends and family. His deep love for his community was evident in all he did.
He is survived by his children, Amy Chaon of Cedar Creek, NE, and Douglas (Kim) Miller of Lafayette, AL. Wayne's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Andrew Oathout, Tyler (Michelle) Oathout, Spencer Oathout, Michael Chaon, Ricky Chaon, Timmy Chaon, Scott (Emily) Jeffreys, Megan (Brandon) O'Donnell, and his great-grandchildren, Jose, Jett, Brooks, Landon, Jackson, and Archer. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Janet Smith of Cedar Creek.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Judy, his grandson Michael Jeffreys, and his siblings Gene, James, and Morris Miller, Patricia Black, and Thelma Baker.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Cedar Creek Ridge, 109 E B St., Cedar Creek, NE 68016. The family invites you to bring a beverage of your choice that you feel would honor Wayne, whether it's a favorite beverage of his or something that brings you comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Cedar Creek Fire Department or Cedar Creek Village Park.
