William Zack Childers, Sr. was born on July 12, 1931 in Buffalo, South Carolina to Zack and Josie (Gibbs) Childers. He passed way on Monday, October 8, 2007 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 26 days.

After graduating from High School, William enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 26 years of active duty serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired at the rank of a Senior Master Seargent.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Hallowell on December 26, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, Nebraska. Together they raised three children, William, Jr., Holly and Stephen.

He is survived by his Children: William Childers, Jr. of Casper, WY; Holly Watson of Lincoln, NE; Stephen Childers and wife Jenn of Firth, NE; 7 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, Sister: Peggy DeBruhl of Landrum, SC. Brother-in-laws: Boyne Hallowell and wife Marlene of Palmyra, NE; Dean Hallowell and wife Beverly of Pratt, KS

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Shirley Childers (May 18, 2005)

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at the Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, Nebraska with Rev. Barbara Thursby officiating.

Private family interment will be held in Rosewood Cemetery in Palmyra, Nebraska.

No visitation or viewing.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
