William "Bill" F. Royal, 77 of Syracuse, passed away on February 7, 2022 at his home. He was born on June 23, 1944 to William H. & Millicent (Poggemeyer) Royal in Nebraska City. Bill joined the Army National Guard in 1964 and served until 1970 when he was honorably discharged. He married Kathy Schomerus on July 15, 1966, at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse.

Bill was active in the Syracuse community, including serving on the Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department and being a Charter Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at St. Paulinus Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his socializing, entertaining and making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Royal; children Mark (Jodi) Royal, Nate (Camie) Royal, Nicole (Mike) Keslar; grandchildren Tiffany (Nick) Walker, Jake (Stephanie) Royal, Jordan Royal, Caitlyn Royal, Nick Royal, Ryker Keslar, Remy Keslar; great grandchildren Jayden, Adilynn & Raylynn Walker, Everlee & Arlo Royal; brother Norman Royal; sister-in-law Donna Royal; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant children Jody Royal & Aaron Royal and brother Don Royal.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Paulinus Facebook page. The rosary will be Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
