William "Bill" K. Messer, 77 of Burr, passed away on December 18, 2017 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on March 8, 1940 to Thad Messer & Ivalee (Green) Messer in Whittier, North Carolina.

Bill served in the Air Force from November 3, 1961 until November 2, 1967. On July 31, 1970 he married Betty Schulz in Lincoln. He and Betty owned The Family Pub in Burr for 28 years. He was also a lifelong member of the Syracuse American Legion and VFW as well as the Burr volunteer fire dept. He loved wood working, gardening and was always tinkering with something.

He is survived by his wife: Betty; Children: Rochele Brown, Scott Messer, Kendra Messer; 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22 at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church in Burr. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
