Obituary

William "Dean" Seegel was born October 5, 1929 to William "Bryan" Seegel and Elsie Young Seegel on a farm near Unadilla NE. He passed away July 3, 2014 in Nebraska City, NE

He received his elementary education in a rural country school. As an adult he earned his GED from the Syracuse High School.

He began farming at the age of eighteen when he rented his first land. This was the beginning of a long career of long hours and hard work.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. One year of this time was served in Germany. He continued serving his country by faithfully donating blood at the blood drives and by holding the longest record, over 50 years, of placing the flags on the Catholic cemetery for the deceased veterans.

After retirement he enjoyed traveling and helping his sister and brother-in-law run their casino trips and suggesting better ways of running their business.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maxine Emshoff, brother Darrell Seegel, two brothers-in-law, Dennis Horns and Elvin Emshoff and a great nephew Bryan Cummings.

He will be missed by many friends and his family: sister Crystal (Jim) Potts of Effingham KS. Nieces: Sue (Phillip) Crafton of Omaha NE, Jonna (Ron) Hubbard of Marysville, KS, Polly (Greg) Frye of Eagle, NE, Denise (Jeff) Smith of Topeka KS and nephews, John Horns of Everest KS, and Charlie (Betsey) Potts of Effingham, KS.
