Winona L. Henk, age 71, of Murdock, NE, passed away peacefully, July 28, 2021, with her loving husband of 51 years by her side at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. Winona was born December 2, 1949 to Harold and Ruth Barbara (Lempka) Jeffery in Beatrice, Nebraska .

In 1967, she graduated from Lewiston High School, and later obtained an associates degree in bookkeeping from the Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Steven A. Henk on June 19, of 1970, in Lincoln, NE and together they raised Jeremy, Travis, and Amber.

Winona was a hard worker, for many years, she ran an in-home day care.  She later owned the Dry Cleaners in Superior, Nebraska and after moving to the Murdock area, she worked at LaPetite Day Care and later as the Finance Office Manager at Super Saver in Omaha.

She was very involved in church, acting as the Sunday school superintendent, and staying active with the United Methodist Women's organization. While in Superior, she was also a member of the Eastern Star.  She was a devoted wife and mother and never missed an opportunity to attend the various events her children and grandchildren participated in.

Winona is survived by her husband, Steve Henk of Murdock, NE; children, Jeremy "Jey" (Lori) Henk of Crested Butte, CO, Travis Harold (Beth King) Henk of Murdock, Amber (Chris) Burke, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Corbin (fiancé Laura Dilley) Henk, Carson and Alex Burke, brother, Tom (Becky) Thies of Lincoln, brother-in-law John (Shirleen) Fritz of Beatrice, brothers, Jim (Gracie) Thies of Lewiston, Dan Thies of Beatrice, Jack (Susan) Thies of Beatrice, Ron (Annie) Jeffery of Virginia, sister, Pamela "P.J." Jeffery of Tecumseh,.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Gena Jeffery, sister Ruth Ann Fritz, and infant brother Robert Jeffery.

Visitation will be Friday, July 30, 2021, from 1 – 8 p.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral home in Louisville. Family will be greeting friends from 6-8.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, 11:00 AM, at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Murdock, NE.

Burial will be held at 2:30 pm at the Crab Orchard Cemetery in Crab Orchard, NE.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation to the ALS Association, Ebenezer United Methodist Church or Josie Harper Hospice House.
