Obituary

William Harland Farley, 86, of Syracuse, passed away November 16, 2015. Born November 14, 1929 in rural Tecumseh, NE to William and Lorena (Jobes) Farley. After graduating from Tecumseh High School in 1947, he married Mary Ellen Heng at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Paul, NE on November 25, 1952. He lived and farmed in rural Tecumseh and served in the Nebraska National Guard. In 1959 he purchased Syracuse Farm Equipment along with his father and brother-in-law, Bruce Pope. After selling the farm implement in 1983, he worked for the Syracuse public school until his retirement in 1993. Harland enjoyed and was known for his repair work and wood working in his Quonset for family, friends, his church and the community. He loved family gatherings, seeing his grandchildren, dancing, fishing, the annual fish fry and gathering for coffee with friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Harland is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Rick (Renee) of Lincoln, Therese Juilfs (Dave) of Syracuse, Brad (Jeanie) of Lincoln, Laura Haynes (Tom) of Omaha, Tony (Patty) of Runnells, IA, Dean (Billie Jo) of Syracuse, Quentin (Denise) of Lincoln, Wes (Stephanie) of Pinckney, MI, Tim (Amber) of Syracuse, Melanie Carlson (Lance) of Randolph, Dan (Laura) of Castle Rock, CO; 29 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings Daryl Farley, Arlene Pope, Lois Carmine; and infant great-grandson Wyatt Juilfs.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, St. Paulinus Catholic Church, Syracuse, NE. Visitation: Thursday 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rosary: 7:00 p.m. at St. Paulinus. Memorials family choice.
