Robert "Bob" L. Eggert, 89, of Murdock, NE, passed away on September 25, 2025, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on June 7, 1936, in Lincoln to Edwin and Agnes (Jirotka) Eggert. Bob graduated from Crete High School at the age of 16 in the class of 1953. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1953, beginning a long and dedicated career of military service. On April 8, 1961, he married Sharon Nelson at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Omaha. Robert and Sharon became charter members of King of Kings Church in Omaha in 1962. They moved to Murdock in 1976. After a brief break from the service Bob later joined the Army Reserves in the early 1970s before joining the NE Air National Guard, where he remained until his retirement in November of 1989.

Bob began his career working for Omaha Works, which later became Western Electric, AT&T, and eventually Lucent, retiring in 1998. He was active in the Murdock community as a member of the Lions Club, the Murdock Volunteer Fire Department, and serving as the Mayor of Murdock in the mid 1980s. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, gardening, and polka dancing with Sharon. He was an avid Johnny Cash fan, played in a local dart league during the 1990s, and was a longtime Red Cross blood & platelets donor. Above all, he cherished time with his grandchildren, especially watching and supporting them in their school competitions, sporting events, and at county and state fairs for their various livestock and pet exhibits. He always made sure to tell them that you ARE one of my favorites. For the past 13 months, Bob resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, NE, where he reunited with old friends, made new ones, and especially enjoyed being able to continue one of his favorite pastimes—playing bingo.

Bob will be remembered for his positive outlook and one of his favorite sayings, "nobody is stupid; people just make dumb decisions." He also had a few simple pleasures in life—prime rib, peaches, a cold beer, and of course ice cream, reminding everyone often that "there is always room for ice cream."

He is survived by his children Teri (Daniel) Choat of St. Edward, NE, Mike (Annette) Eggert of Murdock, Brenda (Alan) Brockhoff of Murdock; special family friend Darren Brauer of Omaha; grandchildren Adina Choat & significant other Andrew Hostler, Bartholomew Choat, Caleb Choat, Delilah (Alex) Potter, Evey Choat, Fina Choat, Cole Eggert & fiancé Nikki Wenzel, Thomas Eggert, Jessica Brockhoff, Candice Brockhoff, Angela Brockhoff; great grandchildren Aidan Choat, Laurel & Johnathan Hostler, Alayna & Raylin Potter; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Steve & Patricia Nelson of Arizona; also numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon; grandson Tyler Eggert, brother and sister-in-law Eugene & Margaret Eggert; father-in-law and mother-in-law George & Helen Nelson and brother-in-law Larry Nelson.
